Our Latin Summer Schools have already become well-known. Since 2021, we have also been organizing Greek summer schools. Spending five days in an environment where only Greek is spoken (learning Greek in Greek) is a unique experience. Let yourself be fully immersed!
Immersion is one of the best and fastest ways to master a language. An important condition in order for this to work, is that everything is understandable, and of course, we ensure that!
The goal of the Greek Summer School is to learn to read texts in a natural way from left to right without having to puzzle, analyze, and translate.

Addisco Education will organize in August 2025, for the fourth time, a unique Greek summer school, where you will learn to understand, speak, read, and write Greek at different levels using the best methods in the field of language acquisition and pedagogy. This edition will be held in our beautiful educational center in Hilversum, The Netherlands.
We work method-independent and try to connect the Greek language as much as possible to the world around us.
The aim of the summer school is to gain a better understanding of Greek to eventually read Greek texts more easily and directly in a natural way, without the need for puzzling, analyzing, and translating.
Addisco ἐν Αὐγούστῳ 2025 τέταρτον διδάξει τὰς Ἑλληνικὰς Σχολάς. Ἐν δὲ ταῖς σχολαῖς μαθήσει Ἑλληνιστὶ συνιέναι, λέγειν, ἀναγνῶναι, γράφειν. Χρώμεθα ταῖς ἀριστεραῖς μεθόδοις τοῦ διδάσκειν.
Οὐ τρόπῳ ἑνὸς βιβλίου χρώμεθα, ἀλλὰ συνδέομεν τὴν Ἑλληνικὴν τοῖς ἀμφὶ ἡμῶν.
Ὁ τῶν Σχολῶν Θερινῶν σκόπος ἐστὶ ἄμεινον τὴν Ἑλληνικὴν γλῶτταν μανθάνειν καὶ οὕτως τοὺς Ἑλληνικοὺς λόγους ἐκ τῶν ἀριστερῶν ἐπὶ τὰ δεξιὰ ἀναγνῶναι, οὐδ’ ἀναλύειν τε καὶ ἑρμηνεύειν.
Deeper understanding
By learning Greek in Greek, you learn to think in Greek and gain a deeper understanding of the texts and a greater appreciation for the beauty of the Greek language.
Μανθάνων τὴν Ἑλληνικὴν γλῶτταν Ἑλληνιστί, καὶ διανοήσει Ἑλληνιστί. Οὕτως πολὺ ἄμεινον γνώσει τοὺς λόγους καὶ τὴν Ἑλληνικὴν καλήν.
Truly reading
The main goal of the Summer School is to learn to read and understand texts from various periods directly in a natural way, without the need to decode them.
Ὁ τῶν Σχολῶν σκόπος ἐστὶ λόγους αἰώνων διαφερόντων ἐκ τῶν ἀριστερῶν ἐπὶ τὰ δεξιὰ ἀναγνῶναι, οὐδ’ ἀναλύειν τε καὶ ἑρμηνεύειν.
Active mastery
After enough input, you will notice that you are increasingly better able to express yourself in Greek, both orally and in written form.
Πολὺ ἀκούσας τε καὶ ἀναγνὼς καὶ αὐτὸς δυνήσει ἄμεινον Ἑλληνιστὶ γράφειν καὶ λαλεῖν!

Mon. to Fri. 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
On Friday, we go a bit longer and conclude with a drink (until approximately 6:00 PM).

Target groups & levels
Who is the Greek Summer School intended for?
The Greek Summer School is intended for high school students, college students, teachers, and other interested parties.
During this week, we will form various groups:
- A group of participants with primarily passive and incomplete knowledge of Greek. This includes interested individuals and high school students; and participants who have already covered all grammar and possess passive vocabulary, but are not familiar with or have minimal experience in actively using classical Greek. This primarily pertains to college students, teachers, and former classical high school graduates.
- A group of participants who have attended our summer program in previous years and can already understand, speak, and write in Greek.
- Depending on the registrations, we might further subdivide and split the groups.

Daily schedule
What does a day during the Greek Summer School look like?
Here you can read more on the course schedule. You are very welcome to stay the night during the course. We have a hotels with special rates for Addisco students, but if you have other plans, that’s completely fine.
10 AM – 12 PM (noon)
The first fifteen minutes we’ll spend getting a cup of coffee or tea. At 10:15 AM we’ll start the interactive Greek lessons using all kinds of texts. We’ll do exercises and have a short break planned for 11:15 AM.
Noon – 1.30 PM
We’ll serve a sumptuous lunch, during which participants are stimulated to keep trying to speak Greek with each other and the teachers. During these conversations you’ll learn and practise a lot of Greek without even realising it!
1.30 – 4 PM
During the afternoons we’ll use various activities where spoken Greek is practised in a playful way. Activities range from watching movies, singing, making music and hiking, to theater and play.
4 PM – 10 AM
Evenings are open for you to spend as you wish! For participants who live further away we have single or double/twin rooms in nearby hotel ‘Lapershoek’, breakfast included, see pricing). The hotel is located near Addisco, just a ten minute walk away.

Guests who have stayed during previous years have spent a lot of time together in the evenings: games, walks, dinner, all in Greek! An extra dimension to this special week.
4 – 6 PM
Fridays are conducted as every other day, but we start an hour later and close off this special week with joint drinks and bites. This’ll give us an opportunity to chat about our experiences and say a proper goodbye.

Our completely renovated educational center
After extensive renovation (2018-2022), our educational center has been in use for some time now. We are particularly proud of our beautiful learning and working environment, where it is very pleasant to stay. We have multiple classrooms of various sizes, each tastefully decorated and equipped with modern teaching materials.
Our center is equipped with the newest technologies on climate control, making it very comfortable year round. The air in the classrooms is continually refreshed, without the drying effect regular AC normally has. We have several classrooms of various sizes available to facilitate small group study as well as lectures.
Our location is central in the Netherlands (by train just 20 min. from Amsterdam and Utrecht, and less than an hour from Schiphol Airport). A pleasant walk of just a few minutes from our center will either bring you in a lovely forest (with a field of vibrant purple flowers) or a bustling city center.
